On Friday 9 and Saturday 10 October our friends from Strawberry Earth are turning ‘Amsterdam Roest’ in Amsterdam into a sustainable Valhalla. The annual Strawberry Earth Fair offers the latest in sustainable fashion, design, food and an impressive program aimed at innovation in the fashion and design industry. On Friday evening true fashion hero Safia Minney (People Tree, UK) and Andrew Morgan (director of documentary ‘The True Cost’ will join the debate about the future of fashion. 

The fair weekend kicks off with presenting the results of the Strawberry Earth Academy ‘class of 2015′. Daan Roosegaarde, sustainable pioneer and innovator, will have a conversation with the fashion and design professionals who have participated in the class of 2015 of the Strawberry Earth Academy. Participants are amongst others: People Tree, Studio JUX and L’Herbe Rouge and we can’t wait to hear the results of this first academy year!

On the same evening, Andrew Morgan, American director of the internationally acclaimed documentary ‘The True Cost‘, will debate with, among others People Tree’s Safia Minney about the future of the fashion industry. Safia Minney is founder and CEO of Fair Trade and sustainable fashion label People Tree. She has turned a lifelong interest in environment, trade and social justice issues into an award winning social business. Safia is widely regarded as a leader in the Fair Trade movement.

Andrew Morgan is an internationally recognised director focused on telling stories for a better tomorrow. His experience includes a broad range of work that spans narrative and documentary storytelling for both commercial and film projects. His latest work ‘The True Cost’ is a groundbreaking documentary film that pulls back the curtain on the untold story and asks us to consider, who really pays the price for our clothing. The Dutch premiere took place at Pakhuis de Zwijger last May and has already opened lots of people’s eyes.

‘The Future of Fashion’ takes place on Friday, 9/10 9:00 p.m.-22:00 pm. Admission is free with a Strawberry earth Fair Day ticket or Passe-partout (note : limited number of places available).
